The
Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario
(FWIO) offers scholarships to:
- assist students pursuing higher education,
- help WI Members further their education,
and
- assist a student from a developing
country to study or train in Ontario.
There are two types of post secondary scholarships:
Southern
Region: Dorothy Futcher Scholarship

established during the Presidency of Mrs.
Futcher in 1947-1950
Northern Region: Florence P. Eadie
Scholarship
-
established in 1963 for Mrs. Eadie's service
to 4-H and the Women's Institute
Eastern Region: Sixtieth Anniversary
Scholarship
-
established in 1979 to commemorate the
formation of the Federated Women's Institutes
of Ontario
Western Region: Hoodless-Lee Scholarship
-
established in 1981 in memory of Adelaide
Hoodless and Erland Lee, the co-founders
of the Women's Institute
Purpose: to encourage 4-H
members to further their education
Eligibility:
- current resident of Ontario
- successfully completed six or more 4-H
Club Projects
- shown steady improvement and personal
growth during the course of club
work and provided leadership and conducted
club work of high quality
- previous winners are not eligible
- type a 350 word essay on a yearly theme
- 2011 -"4H-Go Green,Go Healthy"
- recommendation by a 4-H Leader
Conditions:
- should other qualifications be equal,
the Scholarship may be awarded to club
members whose parent or guardian is a
Women's Institute member
- candidates may apply once in any one
year
- when only one application is received
a mark of 75% in points must be attained
for a full Scholarship award; only half
of the Scholarship amount will be awarded
for a mark under 75%

Purpose: to assist students
to further their formal education as a full-time
student at a post-secondary institution
Eligibility:
- same as 4-H Regional Scholarships

Since 1947, these Scholarships have been
presented by FWIO in recognition of the
women who pioneered the Women's Institute
in Ontario.
Purpose: to assist students
studying at the University of Guelph, College
of Social and Applied Human Sciences
Eligibility:
- Students from Ontario with a minimum
of 70% cumulative average at the end of
the second semester of the BASc Program
or the Marketing Management, Housing and
Real Estate Management or Hotel and Food
Administration Majors of the Bachelors
of Commerce Program, who have been involved
in extracurricular activities.
- A student who has previously been awarded
a Women's Institute Scholarship is ineligible
for an Ontario Women's Institute Scholarship.

This scholarship was established in 1976
to recognize Helen McKercher's years of
service to FWIO as Director of the Women's
Institute and Home Economics Service.
Purpose: to assist a graduate
student to pursue a post-graduate degree
in Family and Consumer Studies, Home Economics
or in a related program
Eligibility:
- a resident of Ontario for five
years
- graduate of a Canadian University

These Regional Scholarships(Eastern,Northern,Southern,Western)
were established in 1987 and are presented
annually to WI members upgrading their education.
Purpose: to assist Women's
Institute Members who seek self-improvement
and personal enrichment through the education
system.
Eligibility:
- resident of Ontario
- WI member for 5 years and currently
active in WI
- Canadian citizen

$250 per region

Established
in 1962, this award provides scholarships
for the promotion and encouragement of education
in the economic, social, and cultural spheres
in a developing country.
Purpose:
to provide training in specific subjects
(namely community welfare and related topics)
to those who have not previously had this
advantage, as well as offering further training
to qualified leaders
Eligibility:
- be a member of an ACWW Society
Value:
dependant on course, length of instruction,
etc.
