The Tec-We-Gwill Women's Institute has a uplifting new project, and is looking for support from the community.

It's a “Bra Amnesty” and donation drive, collecting new and gently used bras to be sent to women who can't afford the expensive apparel, both in developing countries and locally.

The WI will be placing pink “Bra Banks” in Ladies' Change Rooms at the BWG Leisure Centre, and recreation complexes in Alliston and Tottenham, during the month of October. Donors are asked to bring their donations of new or gently-used bras in plastic bags, to deposit in the Bra Bank.

At the end of the campaign, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will receive a donation, based on the weight of the bras collected. “Every bra counts!” says Donna Jebb, Past President of the Simcoe Area Women's Institute, and former board member of the Federated Women's Institute of Ontario. She not only proposed the Bra Amnesty, she persuaded the Tec-We-Gwill WI members to lend their support, and pose for an eye-catching photo.
