We mainly want to educate ourselves and other women and in doing so educate our family and friends. We try to make a difference in our community by donating knitted items to our local hospice and also to Canada Comforts, which is an organization operating out of British Columbia. We are strong advocates for making changes in our community and hopefully our country.
In November 1905, a group of women met in Beamsville at the home of Margaret (Beatty) Tufford, the first president of the Beamsville Women's Institute (B.W.I.).
EUCHRE PARTY: First Monday of every month at Lincoln Center, Beamsville at 7pm. Door prizes and refreshments and everyone is welcome.
February Women's Institute Week: Craft Day we make different crafts such as knitting, cards, quilt blocks and even learning how to tie a quilt. Open to the public and all the items knitted are donated to our local hospice and to Canada Comforts.
We educate our community to who we are by setting up displays at our Pampering Fest, Community Information Fair, Communities in Bloom and our Berries in Bloom.
Make donation of children's books to the "Ready to Read" program.
Every April we join the "Cleanup Your Community" and with gloves and trash bags in hand we pickup all trash around the cenotaph.
When the warm weather comes we plant flowers in the urns at the cenotaph.
