On September 5, 2012, Highgate Women's Institute held a celebration in honour of their 100th Anniversary. On display were Women's Institute memorabilia and Tweedsmuir History Books. Guests included WI Members from the District, former members, auditors and dignitaries.

WI greetings were brought from Eleanor Williams (FWIO Board Director), Martha Gammage (Southwestern AVD), Muriel Hotham (Kent District), Holly Scott (Lambton North District), and Michelle Loosemore (Lambton South District).

Greetings were brought from Chatham-Kent Mayor, Randy Hope, along with Councillors Jim Brown and Steve Pinsonneault, MP Dave VanKersteren and regrets from MPP Rick Nichols who was called away at the last minute.

Eleanor Williams presented the 100th Anniversary pins to each Member. Everyone enjoyed Ron Fleming, a local musician who provided entertainment. Guest speaker Ruth Dudley spoke on the Underground Railroad and displayed 2 quilts, one depicting her African Heritage while the other one she described each block as it pertained to the Underground Railroad.

The cake was cut and fellowship enjoyed by all!
