The Members of Lakeside WI (London Area) gathered to celebrate their Branch’s 100th anniversary on May 6, 2011 with 85 guests in attendance. Mayor Margaret Lupton (who is a WI Member herself) presented the Branch with a plaque from the Township of Zorra. FWIO President Carol Innes and London Area President Berniece Harris were also present and offered their congratulations to Lakeside WI Members.

A century ago, on February 10, 1911, a meeting was held at the home of Mrs. F.G. Seaton to organize the Branch. By the end of 1911, 23 Members had joined. Lakeside WI is the second Branch in Oxford District to celebrate 100 years, with Braemar WI being the first.
